In a Islam community of Africa, an island well known with the wood carving, What does a Hong Kong sculptress really do in fortnight?
In fact, the works are only the by product of the workshop, the exchange experience of Hong Kong artist Jaffa Lam with other artists and local resident has become the real works.
From local oral account history and the help of the local tailor ,Jaffa Lam gives up the consistent wood carving works, she try to explore there where was once the exotic atmosphere of her own country, in the form of another kind, after proving repeatedly , make it localize.
Chinese ceramic pattern with the exotic atmosphere was found in 400 years ago, is it become now Lamu genuine woodcut threshold pattern and develop already. Jaffa painted threshold pattern with porcelain blue, as a testament to the ancient relationshop between China and Lamu. The work not only collect the “others” China history, but also arouse local to understand their own cultural.
